The principle of measuring the VOC of paint in the VOC discharge chamber
In the determination of the VOC release of the coating, the VOC discharge chamber is often used. Then, what principle is used in the process of measuring the VOC of the coating? Let's find out.
Determination principle of paint VOC release:
1. Use a Tenax-TA adsorption tube to collect a certain volume of air in the environmental test chamber. Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the collected air are adsorbed on the adsorbent and desorbed by a thermal desorption device.
2. Then use a non-polar chromatographic column (polarity index less than 10) to separate, hydrogen flame ionization detector (FID) and/or mass spectrometry detector (MSD) to measure the quality of volatile organic compounds (VOC) in the collected gas .
3. Calculate the volatile organic compound (VOC) emission of the sample based on the volume of the collected gas.
VOC discharge chamber requirements: the background concentration of total volatile organic compounds (TVOC) is not more than 50μg/m, and the background concentration of single target volatile organic compounds is not more than 5μg/m.
