Portable Heater CO Emission Chamber Test Conditions
Recently, a man's lighter failed to light up, and netizens reminded him that the room was hypoxic. The reason was that a liquefied gas heater was used and the indoor air was not circulating, causing the carbon dioxide produced by combustion to gradually occupy the space, resulting in insufficient oxygen supply and causing hypoxia. Problems, and in severe cases, carbon monoxide poisoning may occur.
Abroad, heaters have strict requirements for testing CO and CO2 emissions. For example, the standard "BS EN 13278-2013 Gas-fired independent room heaters with open fronts" stipulates the testing requirements for testing CO emissions from formaldehyde heaters. Let’s take a look below.
Methane heater CO emission chamber testing requirements:
Test equipment: huanyi instrument methane heater CO emission chamber
Relevant standards: BS EN 13278-2013
Testing requirements:
1. Install and ignite the equipment in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions, using the appropriate reference gas adjusted to provide rated heat input. Replace the reference gas with an appropriate smoke-limiting gas. Turn off the device and allow it to cool to room temperature.
Follow the manufacturer's instructions, start the equipment from cold and immediately sample the flue gases using the device described in section "7.8.1" of the standard, apply only one suction force as described in "7.8.2" and then switch off the equipment. Repeat this another nine times. At the end of the tenth cycle, compliance with the requirements of "6.8.1" is verified.
2. At the end of the suction in the tenth test "7.8.3.2", let the device run for 1 hour using smoke-limiting gas. At the end of this period, determine the smoke number of the flue gas and verify compliance with the requirements of 6.8.2.
3. Keep the device at room temperature and clean the device according to the manufacturer's instructions. The following tests are then conducted using a reference gas and adjusted to provide nominal heat input.
a) Cycle the equipment for 16 hours and perform 5 cycles of 8-hour shutdowns in the presence of the fuel bed per the manufacturer's instructions.
b) Measure the dry air CO-free concentration of the combustion products after 1 hour of the first cycle.
c) At the end of the last cycle, measure the dry air CO-free concentration of the combustion products and compare the results with those obtained in b).
The above are the testing requirements for the CO emission chamber of methane heaters. If you have any questions, you can visit the official website of "huanyi Instruments" and consult relevant technical personnel.
