Determination of formaldehyde emission by the desiccator method is based on the following two steps:

Step 1: Collect formaldehyde: place a crystallization dish containing distilled water at the bottom of the desiccator, place a test piece on a metal support fixed above it, and the released formaldehyde is absorbed by distilled water as a sample solution.

Step 2: Determination of formaldehyde concentration: Measure the absorbance of the sample solution with a spectrophotometer, and obtain the formaldehyde concentration from the pre-drawn standard curve.

4. Sample edge sealing and storage:

After sawing, the end face of the specimen should be sealed with paraffin wax or formaldehyde-free tape with a melting point of 65°C immediately. The number of edge seals on the end face of the test piece should be the original actual number of edge seals of the part, and at least 50mm of unsealed edges should be reserved.

Test pieces should be prepared in the laboratory. The test should be started within 2 hours after the preparation of the test piece, otherwise the test piece should be remade.
